Starting your treatment
Beginning of treatment
Your doctor prescribes continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for sleep apnea. Elia Médical handles the administrative management of your treatment in coordination with your doctor.
Installation
An Elia Médical technician comes to your home to install the equipment needed for your treatment. They are available to answer all your questions.
Getting started
During installation, the Elia Médical technician guides you and your family in using the device. They explain safety and maintenance instructions and provide you with the contact details of your home healthcare provider so you can stay in touch.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device
CPAP therapy is the gold standard treatment for sleep apnea syndrome, particularly because it is non-invasive and highly effective.
For this treatment, a small machine (about 20 cm in size) is installed in your home. It gently delivers air from the room under light pressure. This air is sent through a mask and helps keep your airways open during sleep, significantly reducing apnea episodes.
Understanding your device data
Your CPAP device can display several types of information:
- AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index): the number of apnea events per hour
- Usage: how long the device was used the previous night
- Mask leaks: any air leaks from the mask
- Pressure: the level set according to your doctor’s prescription
